Hi,

Sorry if this isn't the correct place to ask.

I will be having some double ended dreads made for me but I won't be putting them in myself.

Does anyone know of anyone who can do this is the Leeds/Bradford area?

Thank you in advance.

Microlinks on ebay? [30 Jan 2011|01:32pm]

kottoncandie
Hi all!

I'm lucky enough to work at a salon and one of the stylists will do microlink extensions for me for free. However, I do have to buy the hair, and I was looking on ebay and the prices are much better than in stores - can anyone recommend me a seller/have you bought from ebay before? It kind of sketches me out a little!

Conversely, would anyone recommend doing micro links over gluing them in? The only problem I have with glueing them is them getting super tangled! Any tips for that? How often do you wash your hair when you have them glued in?

Adding extensions to wigs? [02 Mar 2010|06:46pm]

fusilli_head
Hi, I'm sort of new to the hair world. I have ten synthetic wigs, two of them are just plain straight and long and I was thinking about restyling them with extensions. I know how to sew them on and everything, my question is where do I shop for tracks? Inexpensive ones at that, and will there be a huge difference between the synthetic fibers that the wig is made up of and human hair if I decide to go with those?

Need help making human dread extenders [24 Oct 2009|10:46am]

earthymamawitch
[ mood | exhausted ]

This is totally dread related so I'm sure its OK to post here, its just a little unusual lol. My dreads are 2 1/2 months old and extremely tight. They shrank and got fat for awhile, now they are getting skinnier again, and it's a fun process to watch. I am wanting to at some point extend them, they are short enough to where I can't really pull them back or do updos and it would be nice to be able to do that especially once the baby is here. I have a pack of 14" human hair for the process. I know extensions generally aren't recommended for the first 6 months, mine are tight enough that I'm pretty sure they'd hold them now, and I have successfully extended youngish dreads on myself in the past with no issues. but just so long as I get them in before the baby arrives in Jan/Feb I'll be happy. After that I'm sure I won't be doing any maintenance or messing with my hair for a loooonnnnnng time lol - babies tend to take over your life for at least the first year - one of the reasons I dreaded back up in the first place, other than ocasionally crocheting in loose hairs and palmrolling, I really enjoy not having to do anything to my hair, as I HATED daily washings and blowdryings etc of my former brushable hair - even the oiliness that made frequent washing a necessity before has calmed down and I don't even *have* to do that that often, unless I want to.

Ok that was a lot of rambling to get to my point, which is that I'm looking for someone to help me dread up this loose hair so I can extend with it. Between moving into the house we just bought, 6 kids running around underfoot, (including two that aren't in school yet) and having an arm issue that means I can't have full use of my dreading arm for quite some time (old recurring childhood injury revisited, it was a compound dislocation and I have to wear a sling for many weeks and at some point get surgery) I don't see getting this extensions finished any time soon. So is there anyone out there that would be willing to help out with this project? i can mail you the hair and pay for you to ship it back once dreaded plus whatever you think would be fair for labor costs. The hair is yaki human hair, 14 inches long on a weft/track, and i can cut a few sections to size or all of them before hand to show you how big i want them - typically around a 1 1/2" size piece per dread. Oh yeah I only need about 30-ish dreads so its not a huge job.

If anyone would like to help out a fellow dreadie, please note here or email me at earthymamawitch@hotmail.com

Thanks!!!
Jenn

clip-in hair extensions. [28 Sep 2009|04:07pm]

peacelovevogue
I've wanted extensions forever, but am afraid to actually have them done for fear of damaging my hair. My stylist now does them for $250, which isn't bad, considering my old hairstylist base price was $1,000. For Halloween and just to have I want to invest in some clip-in one's. I'm looking to spend under $100, but I just don't know which brands are the best. I want a full strand so like the 10 inch or however long it is to fit around your head. So if anyone here can recommend a good brand I'd be thankful. I'd prefer them to be real human hair if possible.

TIA!

I'm not sure if sales are allowed here... But I really need some help! I just bought a package of beautiful 24" remy weft, but after a lot of thinking, decided it was the wrong color for me (I was gonna dye to match it, but I'm a little too pink for it.) I got it for $110, but I had to haggle it down from $150. I'm really bummed out that I actually wasted that much money, so I'm trying to resell it for $80. Here are some pictures of it:

In real life, it's closest to this color:

Let me know if you're interested! Or if you can think of a more appropriate place for me to try and sell this, I'd appreciate any tips you might have...

extensions storage? [05 Aug 2009|07:29pm]

[ mood | excited ]

hello everyone,

I have recently found the problem to the lifelong dilemma *I want crazy hair but I dont want to deal with all the bleaching + staining my towels + pillows + upkeep + roots + fading + cost + I wanna change color everyday etc*: EXTENSIONS!!!! Now I want to have some, a LOT of them,,,

I wanted to ask, where do you guys put them away? Like, did you make a special kind of box or shelf or closet to put them all in? I dont want to just stuff them all in a box or drawer... I,d like to see them hanging, in all their glory :)

If any of you have any special storage thing, please reply [possibly with pics???] I'm looking at having like 15+ different extension kinds + colors

THANK YOU MUCH!!!
xoxo

Additional Lengths? [13 Jun 2009|12:50am]

[ mood | curious ]

I'm looking at getting a full set of clip-in human hair extensions from Additional Lengths (http://www.additionallengths.co.uk/Product_Details.asp?ProductID=56) but I was wondering if anyone had opinions on how the actual color of the hair matched the photos online. I've got one reference (someone in another community who pointed me to AL got color 22 and washed it with a silver shampoo to get it match her hair and it's much lighter than I'd thought 22 would be) but I'd like more comparisons if possible!
My hair is a sort of medium-to-light brown, so depending on how true to color the images are I could be an 8 or a 10 (color chart here: http://www.additionallengths.co.uk/colourguide.asp) - if they are generally lighter than the photo, 8 might be perfect, but if they're actually pretty close then 10 seems almost perfect.
Additionally, if you have opinions on the quality of the extensions feel free to share!
